Nickel Alloy Plates and Sheets Overview
Nickel alloy plates and sheets are flat-roll metal products that are distinguished by high levels of purity and mechanical strength. The main difference between the two types is the thickness: sheets are usually thinner (they are usually less than 6 mm), whereas the plates are thicker (6 mm and greater), and they are typically used as structural parts or even as a wall of the vessel.
These alloys have excellent corrosion resistance, especially to alkalis such as caustic soda, and have high ductility over a large temperature span.
Nickel 200 and nickel 201 are the most widespread materials provided in the soft (annealed) form because they are easily formed and used in hostile environments where products must be of the purest form, e.g., food handling and synthetic fibres.

Nickel 200 vs Nickel 201 Plates and Sheets (Grades We Supply)
Nickel 200 Alloy Sheets and Plates (UNS N02200)
Nickel 200 is a pure wrought nickel on a commercial basis (99.6%). It possesses great mechanical characteristics and corrosion resistance to numerous corrosive elements. It is applicable most in the minimization of the environment, but when the oxidizing conditions occur and an oxide film is formed passively, it can be applicable. It is very popular with chemical shipping drums, processing equipment in food processing, and caustic handling equipment.
Nickel 201 Alloy Sheets and Plates (UNS N02201)
Nickel 201 Nickel 201 is the low-carbon version of Nickel 200. Nickel 201 can be swept against graphitization at high temperature by keeping the carbon content to a minimum of 0.02. Nickel 201 is therefore the grade to use in applications where the temperature exceeds 315 °C (600°F) e.g. caustic evaporation, combustion boats.
Quick Nickel Alloy Grade Selection Guide
| Environment / Condition | Fabrication Need | Recommended Grade |
| Temperatures < 315°C (600°F) | Standard Forming | Nickel 200 |
| Temperatures > 315°C (600°F) | High Temp Stability | Nickel 201 |
| Caustic Soda / Alkalis | Corrosion Resistance | Both (201 preferred for heat) |
| Spun or Deep Drawn Parts | High Ductility | Nickel 201 (Lower work hardening) |
